The Nolasco’s Receive Their Keys!

The Nolasco family recently received the keys to their Habitat home and got a first look at their newly finished home. Located in the City of Jurupa Valley,  it has four bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a backyard with fruit trees and a vegetable garden. After volunteering many of their Sweat Equity hours on it, Sergio and his family will finally enjoy the fruits of their labor.

Sergio, husband and father, is a pastor for International Baptist Church. Marjorie, wife and mother, is a substitute teacher aide for the Riverside Unified School District.  Their eldest son is attending San Bernardino Community College and the remaining two sons attend high school.  The Nolasco’s rented a home that claimed 60% of their monthly income, which unfortunately is not uncommon when providers are trying to house a family of this size.

Sergio and Marjorie will now pay a zero interest mortgage that does not exceed 30% of their monthly income.  They were able to afford her home purchase through Habitat Riverside because of the Economic Development Agency’s Neighborhood Stabilization Program.  This program funded the purchase of 17 bank-owned, foreclosed homes in Rubidoux with the intent to rehabilitate the home and sell them to very low income families with a 0% interest mortgage.
