This past Saturday the Imperial Dental of Redlands group partnered with Habitat for Humanity Riverside to help paint their 2nd home of the year. They helped Bill and Edna, a senior couple living in Mission Village Mobile Home Park located in Riverside. Both are retired and living on Social Security. Edna has some health ailments with her legs that she has to deal with on a daily basis, so painting their home is not something they can do on their own. From the street view their home looked to be in good conditions. However, upon further inspection it had exposed sides that were stained and streaked and in definite need of a good paint job.
Jen, who brought together her group of friends and co-workers came with smiles to help Bill and Edna. Most of the group that came along had painted once before during their last volunteer day with Habitat back in March of this year. So setup, orientation, and working out the plan was easy. Jerry took care of the blue taping and the rest of the group worked on the rear and sides of the home. While they were busy with these areas, Mike and Dave took care of the front, moving a large awning in order to make painting around the front windows easier. Bill came out several times to look at the progress and couldn’t believe how fast everyone was painting his home. They even had time to paint the shed.
The group continued on the walls and walked around the home to do a quality control check. Once Jerry finished painting the six shutters, they were remounted and the front awning put back in place. This paint project was completed right at noon. Bill and Edna gladly took a group photo and thanked all of them as they were leaving to enjoy their weekend.
Thank you Jen and the Imperial Dental group for brightening up Bill and Edna’s home and their day at the same time.
