8/22/12: Wells Fargo On-Site Again

A big thank you goes out to the team from Wells Fargo who joined us at King Arthur’s Mobile Home Court in Riverside on August 22nd. Senior homeowners, Felix and Eva, were so happy with the end results! Felix last painted their home about 10 years ago. There is no way he could have attempted it again and the family could not afford to pay someone else to do it for them. They have a  lovely home but  it needed a lot of helping hands to get it painted.

The Wells Fargo group came ready.  They decided to paint the hot, sunny sides of the home to quickly get finished before the noon heat of the day hit. As soon as Manny bragged about how he just painted the shutters on his 2 story home, he was the clear choice to handle the extension ladder duties and take care of the peaks. He was a really good sport about it and tackled one of the tougher parts of painting a home.

Wells Fargo didn’t display the typical Habitat volunteer behavior. Most of our groups are pretty lively but these folks were so focused they were unusually quiet! Some of the group proved they were great multi-taskers as they painted and solved work or home  related issues at the same time. And they did not miss a beat or brush stroke…another atypical behavior for a volunteer group. Usually all work stops when they get a phone call! Not team Wells Fargo. They were amazingly detail oriented and worked really nicely as a team.

Salina Biasa, a future Habitat homeowner joined the group to get in some of her Sweat Equity.  She fit right in with the rest of the group and was the last one to leave, heading over to the Habitat offices to do some more Sweat Equity there.

The Wells Fargo Team from Downtown Riverside has already asked for something more to be involved in and we’ll make sure that happens! Thanks Wells Fargo. You made a couple of seniors, Felix and Eva, very, very happy! When we left the park, Felix was still walking around admiring the work you did with a big smile on his face. After all, isn’t that what it’s all about?
