8/18/12: Target Volunteers

Another scorcher on Saturday the 18th as the folks from the Target store in Murrieta came out to help us finish off a multi-day project on the home belonging to Anne Warren in Santiago Estates in Moreno Valley. This was a small but totally energetic group under the watchful eye of their team leader, Amber! They worked hard. We definitely needed help from the paint sprayer and the team completed all of the trim work, including a ton of shutters. This was our second big volunteer day on this unit. During the first one we completed a huge yard clean up project, including trimming all of the trees, a bunch of weeding and just cleaning up. We hauled out about 30 bags of yard waste!

Last week a small group went in and did some repairs to siding and trim, due to a lot of water damage that occurred when the roofing leaked. Anne has had the roof replaced but they never repaired the damaged siding and trim so we made sure that was handled before we painted.

Then Saturday, the Target team worked their magic and completed the final volunteer day by painting the unit and the shed. We will be hanging the shutters back up early this week and the entire project will be complete. Thanks Amber and the rest of the Target team, even those afraid of ladders (and you know who you are) who sweated away on Saturday. Awesome work, don’t you think?~Kathy Michalak, Executive Construction Supervisor
