Once again our loyal volunteers showed up in full force for a project in the Santiago Mobile Home Park in Moreno Valley last Friday. We painted a unit belonging to a family who is surviving on disability income after the father was declared permanently disabled due to an injury. He had already spent several months doing some repair work to the skirting and trim on the unit but could not physically handle the ladder work or the expense of painting the unit.
The group was awesome! This might be a new record for completing a paint job. We started painting a little after 9:00 a.m. and released the volunteers around noon. 20 people, 3 hours and an absolutely beautiful paint job. The homeowner was amazed and the park manager was very pleased with the results.
This was not the first rodeo for most of the volunteers so they knew what to do, what not to do, how to handle most of the little issues that come up and worked through them like professionals, having a good time doing it.
Our volunteers are the best. Thanks for helping Habitat for Humanity Riverside make a difference in our communities. We can’t do it without you.
