One of Habitat for Humanity Riverside's greatest challenges is the need for funding. Since we are not a government organization we rely on private funds to continue to build homes in partnership with families in need. The major sources of funding come from the community – faith organizations, corporations, foundations, community organizations and individuals. We are not a government program.

Why You Should Donate?

Your gift changes lives, gives hope for the future, and strengthens families in our building area.. We sell homes to motivated, low-income working families based on the belief that every person deserves a quality, affordable place to live.

Your contribution supports our local community.

We use your money wisely. 100% of every dollar goes directly toward our home building program and services, rather than fundraising and general and administrative expenses.

It makes good economic sense. Habitat for Humanity first-time homebuyers offers a new base of taxpayers for the our building area.

Your gift strengthens Riverside County neighborhoods. Vacant lots once overgrown and degraded with garbage are transformed into homes where children and families flourish. Habitat for Humanity Riverside constructs houses in large-scale communities so that neighbors can work together to improve entire neighborhoods. Homeowners are active in their communities and schools.

We build partnerships and community beyond the neighborhoods where we build. Often, we bring together volunteers of diverse backgrounds to build a single home. These volunteers gain new understanding and an appreciation for others -- not to mention new and lasting friendships.

•100% of funding that is donated is used for our house-building program.
•Contributions to Habitat for Humanity Riverside are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
•Habitat for Humanity Riverside does sell or rent any information about our donors to third parties.

Cars For Homes

Frequently asked questions about donating to Cars for Homes™ — Habitat for Humanity’s car donation program

What types of vehicle donations are accepted?
Habitat’s Cars for Homes™ car donation program accepts almost all vehicles. You can donate cars, trucks, motorcycles, boats, snowmobiles, trailers and recreational vehicles. Airplane and boat donations may require a phone call to see if they meet the minimum criteria.

What if the vehicle is not running?
Your vehicle donation does not have to be running, but it must be whole and have four inflated tires so it can be moved by our towing operators. You will be asked to explain the condition of the vehicle. In rare cases, Cars for Homes™ is unable to accept some car donations when the cost of transport and processing fees exceed the auction value of the vehicle.

How long will it take to have my vehicle picked up?
All car donations made to Cars for Homes™ are processed as quickly as possible. Typically the vehicle is picked up within two or three days after the title is received by our processing center in Rhode Island. You can accelerate the car donation process by inputting information and downloading documents online. Special arrangements can be made whenever car donations must be made more quickly.

What documents do I need to donate a car?
Most states require a clear title to the vehicle, and some states also require a notarized signature or additional forms to complete a vehicle donation. If you cannot locate or have lost the certificate of title, we can help you obtain the proper documentation and forms.

What if the vehicle is not registered in my name?
The vehicle does not need to be registered in your name. The name on the title may often differ from the name on the registration documents. Call Cars for Homes™ at 877-277-HFHI (4344) for more information.

How much of the money generated by the sale of my car donation goes to Cars for Homes™?
Cars for Homes™ strives to run the most efficient vehicle donation program in the country. We take very seriously our responsibility to be good stewards of all car donations. On a monthly basis, our program has historically received more than 80 percent of the sales revenues. We have paid less than 20 percent of the selling price for towing, auction and processing fees. By comparison, some charities pay third-party, for-profit vehicle donation programs up to 70 percent in fees.

How do I know my vehicle is in good hands once it’s been picked up?
Habitat for Humanity uses a licensed and insured national transportation network and complies with all federal and state regulations. By signing the title directly to Advanced Remarketing Services, Habitat for Humanity’s nationally authorized agent, you are legally transferring ownership of your vehicle. When your title is received and your vehicle is picked up, you are no longer responsible for the vehicle.
