HABITAT FOR HUMANITY CELEBRATES 20 YEARS IN RIVERSIDE!!
Habitat for Humanity Riverside celebrated its 20th
Anniversary on Saturday October 25th, 2008 with a “Brunch in the
Gardens” at Lucy and Frank Heyming’s historic five acre property in Riverside. This enchanting
garden is considered one of the hidden treasures of Riverside and Master Gardeners Lucy and Frank
Heyming, Pauline Pedigo and Pat Robertson conducted garden tours for over 150
guests. In attendance was the Mayor of Riverside Ron Loveridge, the Mayor
of Moreno Valley William Batey, the Mayor pro-tem of Corona Steve Nolan,
Riverside City Council members Nancy Hart, Andy Melendrez, Rusty Bailey and
family. Donna Johnston represented Supervisor John Tavaglione’s office,
Rosemarie Gonzales represented the Development Agency of the City of Riverside and many friends
and supporters of Habitat for Humanity Riverside enjoyed the glorious day. The
Event sponsors were Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, Altura Credit Union,
Riverside Public Utilities, Premier Service Bank, Tangram Interiors, Ken and
Mary Gutierrez and Frank and Lucy Heyming. The proceeds of the event will go
toward the construction of homes for local, low-income families and for a much
needed home for YWCA’s “Born Free” program providing a residential treatment
program to house chemically-dependent women so that they can recover from
addiction, give birth to healthy babies and learn skills to become healthy
self-sustaining members of society.
