Need a Helping Hand?

A Mobile Home Rehabilitation Program

Helping Hands assists with:

● Minor Exterior Repair

● Yard Cleanup

● Exterior Painting

● Landscaping

What is it?

Helping Hands is a program designed to help low and fixed income households in mobile-home communities make exterior improvements to their dwellings.

Why Helping Hands?

Often the safest, highest quality mobile home communities owe their quality and safety to strictly enforced community standards. When households do not comply with maintenance regulations, they often face penalties even leading up to eviction. Habitat Riverside’s Helping Hands program assists households for whom compliance is not possible due to low income or disability. This supports Habitat for Humanity’s greater social mission by preventing homelessness before it starts.

How is the program executed?

Potential applicants are identified through Habitat Riverside’s community partnerships. Once they have submitted the proper paperwork Habitat Riverside reviews the application to determine if its needs are properly suited to the program’s capabilities and stated mission. Habitat then visits the site, and if approved the project is scheduled.

Volunteer/Sponsor Opportunities

Helping Hands gives volunteers the opportunity to get involved with or without construction experience. Your company or organization can also help by sponsoring a mobile home rehabilitation project. Past groups have included the US Navy Recruitment Depot and Kaiser Permanante. Mobile home rehabs can be scheduled for any day convenient for your group.

Who qualifies?

The program seeks to benefit households on low fixed incomes, typically veterans, seniors, and the disabled. The application is available online at www.habitatriverside.org or can be obtained by contacting the office directly.

About Us

Habitat for Humanity Riverside was established in 1988. We’ve built 33 homes since then, and Helping Hands is our latest program in fighting substandard housing in Western Riverside County. Habitat Riverside’s ongoing fundraising program, ReStore, sells hardware, building materials, and household items donated from corporations and individuals. Proceeds help cover our operational costs, enabling us to maximize donations for new builds and programs like Helping Hands.
