8/8/12: Glaxo-Smith-Kline

Huge shout out to the team from Glaxo-Smith-Kline, the new record holders for a Helping Hands project. They totally painted a double-wide unit with enclosed porch, including awnings, railings and uprights in just over 3 hours! They did an amazing job. It looks beautiful. We didn’t need to use a paint sprayer for anything, not even the awnings. Ooops, maybe I shouldn’t have mentioned that we had a sprayer in the truck?

Thanks to Lisa for coordinating and pulling together an amazing group of workers. They came ready to rock and roll. Lisa kept telling us they had no “experience” and that her volunteers were new at this type of work. Total sandbagger! Calvin, the park manager for King Arthur Mobile Estates, was blown away and it’s not easy to impress him. The homeowners, Bertha and Eliezer were really excited. After the group left they wandered around their mobile home admiring the work. They were pretty happy with their color choices as well. Now their unit stands out between the two beige and brown units on either side.

Special thanks to Ian for his attention to detail and his good nature when we singled him out for his unconventional “work” footwear! Thanks to the group for keeping an eye on him…and to Bob for his portable shade and his leadership. This group didn’t let a little triple digit heat slow them down. In fact, it may have sped them up! Great teamwork and lots of good natured fun together and you made a huge difference for a couple of seniors who needed your help. THANK YOU GSK! ~Kathy Michalak, Construction Supervisor
