3/5/12: UCR Volunteer Day

Thanks to the group of 40+ students from the Anderson Graduate School of Business at UCR for coming out on Friday to help out two brothers living side by side in King Arthur’s Mobile Home Park in Riverside. One of the brothers recently took in his daughter and two grand-daughters after the daughter lost her job and home. The unit was in pretty sad shape having last been painted more than 15 years ago. It was a very dated green and faded yellow color. Not the most attractive unit in the park. It’s now a very sharp gray and white and looks fresh and bright. The second unit had been painted about three years ago but the workmanship was very poor and the paint was actually fading off in many places along the back one side of the home. This unit is home to a family of six and they cannot afford to have it repainted. Both homeowners had received citations from the park requiring the paint to be updated.

The students did a nice job on both homes staying focused and working together to make short work of it. Park management has now taken both units off the citation list. Thanks to everyone for their hard work.
